See the Facebook group Knox County Seed Library (Indiana). Also, request to be added to the KCSL email contact list to receive information and updates.

The Goal: To develop a repository of heirloom and native seeds, freely available to the public, in an effort to improve the nutritional health and well-being of our community. Additionally, to provide information and to offer workshops on gardening and seed saving.

The Knox County Seed Library (KCLS), managed by volunteers, is free to use and operates on a “self-serve” basis. The KCSL provides free seed for anyone the check out and use. The growing of open pollinated and heirloom varieties is encouraged and promoted, as well as the saving and sharing of seed from those varieties, in order to develop varieties that are adapted to local soils and climate, as well as to continue the history and stories behind them.

Ultimately, the KCSL aims to increase access to nutritional food, increase food security, preserve seed integrity, help people learn to grow and use their own food from gardens, and promote a sense of community. KCSL uses education to encourage successful growing and seed saving and to ensure the safety and quality of donated seed.
