Basketball History: Wabash Valley High School Basketball Tournament

The Wabash Valley Tournament will be the focus of a panel of basketball historians on Wednesday, February 19th, 6:30 p.m. in the Main Library. Radio personality Keith Doades will prompt the panel including Hugh Schaefer, Tim Nonte and Daniel J. Combs, M.D.

Keith Doades will moderate a panel discussion about the outstanding players, coaches and games of the tournament. Including 188 schools, the tournament was conducted from 1916-1972, in Terre Haute.
Visit the Knox County Public Library, 502 N. 7th Street, Vincennes on Wednesday, February 19 at 6:30PM. We’ll relive Hoosier Hysteria at its best.
Panel Includes Indiana High School Basketball Experts:
William Stedman, DDS -author “90 Years of Alices: A History of Vincennes Lincoln High School Boys Basketball, 1905-1994”
Daniel Combs, M.D. – team physician for Lincoln High School athletic teams for 20 years & avid Basketball fan and local historian -Donated collection of historic photos to KCPL
Tim Nonte - author of seven high school basketball histories including teams from Princeton, Mt. Olympus, Patoka, Princeton Lincoln, Hazleton Loogootee and Loogootee St. John’s. Indiana Baseball Hall of Fame Member in 1994 for his highly successful baseball coaching career at Loogootee and Princeton
Hugh Schaefer -High School Basketball Historian: 2010 Virgil Sweet Award Winner; Retired as South Knox History Teacher & Former Varsity Basketball Coach
