Robert Kennedy in Vincennes
2/16/2014
Main Library
2 p.m.

Learn about Robert F. Kennedy’s visit to Vincennes during his campaign for the Indiana Democratic presidential primary. Kennedy and his family were in Vincennes in April 1968 and Gus Stevens was the family’s escort. Stevens will discuss that historic visit during a presentation at the Knox County Public Library on Sunday, February 16, 2014, at 2pm at the Knox County Public Library, 502 N. 7th Street, Vincennes. The program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
This program accompanies the Faces in the Crowd exhibit now in the main library and on loan from the Indiana Historical Society. Three panels in the exhibit include photos from Kennedy’s 1968 Indiana campaign. Faces in the Crowd exhibit shows the story of individual citizens in the crowd – each of whom plays a crucial role in ensuring that the electoral process works. Without voters’ support, enthusiasm and engagement, candidates would not be able to get the message out and win votes. Kennedy’s visit to Vincennes was significant and helped him win the Indiana Democratic primary election.
